The scientific expedition returning from South America brings home to Belgium the ancient mummy of the great Incar of Redkar Kapak. Soon, the expedition participants are one after another in a lethargic dream. According to experts, the reason for this may be a certain substance, the traces of which are present on the fragments of crystal balls, which are found over and over again near the victims. In the clinic, where the victims of a strange epidemic are delivered, a new intriguing detail becomes known: every day at the same time, all seven fall into a deep trance. Did anyone really decide to punish those who dared to defile the tomb of the ruler of the Inca? Tintin is taken up for the investigation, but then Professor Tournole disappears. The search leads Tintin and Captain Haddok to France. In the port, they find a professor’s hat. Tintin assumes that the professors were abducted and put aboard the Pachakamak dry cargo, which had just sailed to the Peruvian port of Caliao. Tintin and the captain urgently fly out there.

The format of the dilogy, tested by the “pirate” history (“The Secret of the "Unicorn” and “Treasure of Red Raccam”) turned out to be so successful that the next “Indian” adventure of Tintin (“7 crystal balls” and “Temple of the Sun”) Erzhe also decided to make two -volume. In the Russian edition, both parts are marked with orange roots for convenience.

Erzhe - the pseudonym of the Belgian artist Georges Remy (1907–1983), the author of Tintin. The cycle about the adventures of a brave reporter with a fervent crest and his faithful friend of the snow-white Foxerier Milu was translated into 110 languages, recognized around the world a classic of the comic book genre and still conquers the hearts of readers from 10 to 99
