The truth about war is ruthless. This truth was shown in their "Blockade Book" by Ales Adamovich and Daniil Granin, both participants of the Great Patriotic War. The "Blockade Book" is based on diaries and memories of witnesses of the "Leningrad apocalypse." The authors met with ordinary residents of Leningrad who survived the blockade, as well as with people whose decisions influenced the course of events. This was how the first popular book about the blockade came to be. At the time of its release, the publication of this book was delayed by censorship - the truth about the blockade turned out to be too inconvenient. After the book was released, the authors were inundated with letters of gratitude from readers, thanking Adamovich and Granin for the first true book about the blockade. This book, which is a vivid testimony of the time, should be read by everyone.
