This book is the memoirs of the surgeon Maria Pavlovna Shilo, told by her granddaughter - the author of the book. This is a story about simple, and at the same time, great people whose actions and moral choice made their life a real feat and largely determined the history of our country in the turbulent twentieth century.
The name of the book - "Blade of Life" - symbolic. At the turning point of history, people find themselves on the blades of life - on the verge of life and death or on the verge of moral choice. Life, like a blade, redraws their fate. The heroine of the book - a woman surgeon, a scalpel blade fights for the life of patients. The heroes of the book are constantly facing a choice: to go to dishonor or death, give up or not give up to the end, serve your momentary interests or your country? The way they come out of these tests becomes an example, a moral guideline for today"s generation.
