This is a novel about love, about its incomprehensible laws, about difficult human destinies and characters, and distinguish its complex philosophy and unusual, innovative composition - the author himself gave him a subtitle "Roman in the Tags and stories".
Rumors that Dombrovsky has an unpublished novel - border between his early prose, forcedly written in historical or foreign material ("Monkey comes to his skull", "Small Lady"), and brought him fame to autobiographical books ( "Guardian of antiquities", "Faculty of unnecessary things") - went for a long time, but the text itself created by the writer in the settlement, was then lost after rehabilitation (Dombrovsky sat a total of ten years, not counting the first link to Almaty in 1933 year), or destroyed.
