The world recognized the name of Daphne Dumorye (1907–1989) in 1938, after the release of the novel Rebecca, the seventh book of a young English writer. In total, for a long creative life, she released a dozen novels, several collections of stories (short stories, novels-at different times Dumeria called the works of her little prose differently), as well as three plays, biographies and a book about Cornwall. The collection of stories by Daphne Dumorye, in 1977, entitled according to the famous novel Birds, was first published in 1952 under the name Apple tree, and in 1953-Kiss me again, a stranger. In addition to the six stories that make up the author’s collection, the newly previously translated story “Happy Christmas” (1940) is included in the publication in Russian
