Biography in the history of culture

Tom consists of three sections. The first section, "Genre of Biography in Foreign Literature", included I. Shaitanov’s articles about the problems of the biography of Shakespeare, E.P. Zykova about the biography of Samuel Johnson, O. A. Ovcharenko on the biography of Camoens, J. M. Ivanova de Mendos about the role of the role which the genre of biography plays in the literature of Latin America.
The second section is devoted to the problems of the formation of a biographical genre in Russian literature. The article by L. I. Sazonova considers the historical and cultural context of the creation of the biography of Simeon Polotsky, in the article by S. G. Bocharov "What is the biography of the poet", a more general question is raised - the relationship of the biography and work of the poet and their reflection in the biography as a genre. The article by V. I. Shcherbakov demonstrates the biographical sources of the article by D. I. Pisarev "Our University Science", in the article by A. Yu. The third section, "biography and its sources", is devoted to documentary materials on the basis of which the biographies of poets are created: V. Mayakovsky (article by V.N. Dyadichev), I. Seversyanin (article by V.N. Terekhina and N. Terekhina and N. I. Shubnikova-Guseva), as well as the investigative affairs of the Decembrists and our contemporaries, who became victims of the terror of the Stalinist era, as a biographical source.
