Zinaida Gippius

This book presents the biography of Zinaida Nikolaevna Hippius of the period of 1879-1920. The use of extensive documentary material shows an important role that Z. N. Gippius is an outstanding poet, literary critic, thinker and public figure of the Silver Age, played in the struggle for the formation of symbolism as a leading direction in Russian literature of the beginning of the twentieth century.
