“Painting is better than politics,” the artist Yuri Larin loved to repeat. The son of the famous revolutionary Nikolai Bukharin, executed in 1938, he experienced the horror of totalitarianism from his own experience, therefore, one of the main tasks of his life, he saw the posthumous rehabilitation of his father. Nevertheless, the main vocation of Yuri Nikolaevich was visual art - and it was in him that he managed to leave a significant mark.
Documentary biography, written by Dmitry Smolev, combines the study of Larin"s work, and the circumstances of the modern art scene, and family saga. The painting here is not isolated into a separate, autonomous world, but is inscribed in a wide context of the era, the echoes of which are heard to this day.
