After the death of Konstantin the Great, the Roman Empire was divided into three parts between his three sons. Of these, Constance II (337-361) managed to achieve the most noticeable successes. The latter was in power not only longer than his brothers, he ultimately managed to gather all his fatherly possessions under his hand and established a regime of hard despotic control within the state. Constantius was not successful in wars and did not differ in the qualities, thanks to which he could be called an outstanding monarch. Nevertheless, until the death hour, he sought to fulfill his duty of the emperor, caring not only about the satisfaction of personal ambitions, but also about the good of the state entrusted to him.
