Helmut Shibel, the company commander, as part of the 13th Wehrmacht Panzer Division, describes the path traveled by him along the roads of World War II. This is a story about heavy battles on the Eastern Front, about harsh soldier"s everyday life, about how the front -line soldiers fought and died. His diary is the testimony of a soldier who has experienced the horrors of a terrible war, but has not lost human dignity and the ability to think: he tries to be objective in his assessments, giving tribute to courage and nobility, regardless of who shows them: a Soviet warrior or soldier of the Wehrmacht. Confidence in victory replaces the understanding of an impending catastrophe, at the end of the narrative he says bitterly: “We stole years of youth. It"s all over with us. Soon everything will collapse, and the third Reich will never be. ”
