This book of memoirs of the aircraft designer and professor of the MAI on the working conditions of the young engineer in one of the most classified OKB Sukhoi during the development of the first Soviet supersonic fighters, about his colleagues and the most striking historical events. The author analyzes the reasons for the pre -war tragedy of Soviet aircraft designers, the catastrophes of V.P. Chkalov, the execution of aviation commanders and for the first time talks about the genuine history of the formation of new design groups. A significant part of the book is occupied by the memories of the direct activity of the ingenious aircraft designer Pavel Sukhoi. Forty -year -old experience within the aviation industry allowed the author to figuratively talk about the everyday life of ordinary aircraft designers, give a deep professional and realistic analysis of past and today"s design solutions when creating combat aircraft, show the reader an exciting process of design, the struggle of ideas and clashes of personalities.
