The book consists of two stories. The first story "Scythian plan of Barclay" talks about the events of the war of 1812 and the roles in victory over the French of General Barclay de Tolly. The military minister, a visionary politician, commander of the Russian troops at the initial stage of the war, Barclay de Tolly was not understood with his retreat strategy. But in the end, thanks to this particular strategy, the Russian army won the war. The protagonist of the second story "twice general and the Czech mafia" - General of the Russian and Czechoslovak Army Sergey Nikolayevich Voitskhovsky. The story covers a wide time cycle from 1915 to 1938. It tells about the First World War and the Civil War in Russia, the role of the Czechoslovak legionnaires (Belochekhov), as well as the situation in Czechoslovakia in 1938 - on the eve of the occupation of its fascist Germany
