The collection publishes documents and visual materials from the collection of the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art related to the female environment I.S. Turgenev, who directly or indirectly influenced the formation of the literary image of the Turgenev Girl.
The publication consists of sections dedicated to the mother of the writer V.P. Turgeneva and her pupil V.N. Zhitova, his daughter Polina Bruer (Turgeneva) and granddaughter Jeanne, women writers (Georges Sand, L.F. Nelidova, O.A. Novikova, V.A. Tsurikova) and friendly environment (N.A. Tuchkova-Ogereva, N.A. Herzen, J.A. and N.Ya. Polonsky, S.G. Shchepkina), actress M.G. Savina, French singer and vocal teacher Polina Viardot.
The book is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of I.S. Turgenev is intended not only for researchers of the life and work of the writer, but also for a wide range of specialists in the history of Russian culture, students of humanitarian educational institutions, readers interested in Russian classical literature
