Eduard Tisse is one of the first Soviet operators and directors, a movie discoverer. His fate is complex and contradictory, it is known a little about it. With Sergey Eisenstein, he created the legendary masterpieces - “strike”, “battleship“ Potemkin ”and“ October ”. The technique of Tisse formed the optical picture of early Soviet cinema. The book is a biography and filmography of Tisse, based on unique documentary material - letters, diary records, publications of the Soviet and foreign press, rare photographs. Working on the book, the author collected materials scattered through the archives of the whole world
