The monograph by Oleg Milevsky is the first scientific biography of the revolutionary -populist Valerian Andreyevich Osinsky, a pioneer of the political struggle through terror in Russia.
The biography of Valerian Osinsky, based on a wide range of sources, is given against the background of complex socio-political processes that took place at that time in the Russian Empire. On the example of the formation of the social worldview of Valerian Osinsky, an attempt was made to explain the phenomenon of the appearance of the Narodnic generation of the 70s in Russia. XIX century. The author managed not only to reconstruct the life and revolutionary activities of Valerian Osinsky, but also to fit it into a wide panorama of the development of the populist movement, both in the capital and in the south of Russia. The book created a bright portrait gallery of Osinsky’s associates in the terrorist struggle and recreated the activities of the main brainchild of Osinsky - the “Executive Committee of the Russian Social -revolutionary party”
