The name of the brightest Prince of Tauride is more than deservedly included in the series "Great Names of Russia". Here we can say with complete confidence not just "great", but the greatest. Judge for yourself, over the 20 years of the joint reign of Catherine and Potemkin, the territory of Russia increased by more than 20 percent, and mostly these acquisitions occurred peacefully, which is only worth the accession of Crimea and Taman. To a large extent, this is a consequence of the diplomatic talent of the brighter. In the military sector, Potemkin also left his unforgettable mark. In his first Turkish campaign, he shone as a combat general, and in the second - he brilliantly won it as a commander. Together with his associates of Suvorov and Rumyantsev, he created in Russia the most powerful land army in the world. From scratch, Potemkin created the Black Sea Fleet in the shortest possible time and completely defeated the Turkish fleet with the help of Ushakov. The story, however, treated Potemkin not very fairly. Many of his achievements were deliberately silent, but personal weaknesses swelled to unimaginable sizes.
