The book tells about the history of the city’s literary process on the Neva from 1990 to our days: the split of the Union of Writers of the USSR, the emergence of the Union of Writers of St. Petersburg, a fire in the writer’s house on the Spalernaya, and the creation of the Center for Modern Literature, which has become a refuge for writers of the city. The author writes about the writers with whom he had a chance to meet, whose names entered Russian and world literature, among them: Boris Strugatsky, Vadim Shefner, Alexander Zhitinsky, Vladimir Ufland, Ilya Fonyakov and others
