Eddie Yaku survived in Auschwitz, where he lost his family and strength to enjoy life. But once he vowed to smile every day and now considers himself the happiest person on earth. Recently, together with the great-grandchildren, Eddie celebrated his 101st birthday.
Eddie Yaku always considered himself primarily a German, and in the second - a Jew. He was proud of his country. But everything changed in November 1938, when he was beaten, arrested and sent to a concentration camp. Over the next seven years, Eddie has come across unimaginable horrors daily, first in Buchenwald, then in Auschwitz. The Nazis took everything from Eddie - his family, friends and the country.
Eddie miraculously survived, although this salvation did not bring him relief. For several years he was seized with despair ... But it turned out that the hardships did not break his spirit. At one point, when Eddie had a son, he made a promise: to smile every day, to thank the miracle of life and strive to happiness
