Jan Galeazzo Chiano, 2nd Count Cortelatszo and Bukkari 1903 - 1944) - Italian Foreign Minister from June 9, 1936 to February 6, 1943, son -in -law Benito Mussolini. Having received a legal education, he served the attache in Rio de Janeiro, where he met and in 1930 was married to Mussolini Edda"s daughter. Returning to Italy, he received the post of Minister of the press and propaganda. He took part in the Ethiopian military campaign as commander of the squadron of bombers. In 1936 he returned to Italy and appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs (before him and after him, Mussolini himself held this position) As Mussolini"s closer to Germany, Chiano, is increasingly resisting his policy. Since 1943, he has been actively engaged in the withdrawal of Italy from the war, as a result of which he was removed from the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and appointed ambassador to the Vatican. On July 24, 1943, at the Great Fascist Council, he supported the resolution on the removal of Mussolini from office. The new government of Marshal Pietro Badolo refused Chiano"s services, and the latter fled to Germany with his family. He was captured by the Germans and issued to the authorities of the Italian Social Republic.
