The name of Dmitry Petrovich Svyatopolk-Mirsky (1890-1939) is not yet known in Russia, but in the West he is one of the most famous specialists in Russian literature, the author of the works according to which Slavian students are still studying. A native of the princely family, the son of the Minister of the Interior, he served in the guard, participated in the civil war, and then ended up in England, where he gained authority not only in emigrant circles, but also from local figures of science and culture. Revision of views, participation in the Eurasian movement, communication with M. Gorky led Mirsky to the adoption of communist ideas and leaving for the Soviet Union, where he, like many "returners", became a victim of repressions of the 1930s. His creative heritage has returned to his homeland only recently, and now Russian readers are offered the first full -scale biography of Svyatopolk -Mirsky, created by leading researchers of his life and creativity - Russian scientists M. Efimov and British J. Smith
