Vasily Petrovich Avenarius (1839, Tsarskoye Selo - 1923, Petrograd) - Russian writer, secret adviser. Since the mid-1880s, Ainarius began to publish novels from the life of writers, scientists, artists, describing mainly their childhood, adolescence and youth. We are pleased to present to your attention his biographical cycle “Student Years of Gogol”: “Gogol-gymnasium” (published for the first time in 1897), “Gogol-Student” (published for the first time in 1898), “The School of Life of the Great Humorist” (published for the first time in 1899) . All these books are complemented by our illustrations from the first (pre -revolutionary) publications.
