Broken music ”leaves a feeling of personal catharsis, which is rarely found in the publications of this genre ... thoughtful and amazing ",
- British magazine London Spectator
A brilliantly written autobiography, which is like a novel, immerses readers in the childhood of Gordon Samner. Starting his way in a provincial English town, he managed to conquer the whole world with his talent and drive.
Sting does not seek to tell the chronological and super -industrial history of his life. Rather, he collects memories of places and people like a patchwork blanket, drawing the attention of readers to certain, most significant events for him.
The narrative begins in childhood in the old Victorian house, where the mother of the future star introduces him to the world of music, enthusiastically playing tango on the piano. The memoirs end on the banks of a quiet river, in which the body of a ritually killed girl is ended. At this point, Sting already found fame, his group The Police managed to break up, the marriage ended in divorce and he lost both parents. Nevertheless, he understands that the future is not good, everything is ahead: I would like to believe that it was broken, in the end they fixed it, and what was wrong was corrected
