Stefan Zweig (1881-1942) is an outstanding Austrian writer, who also acted as a poet, essayist, critic, playwright, author of historical biographies. The total circulation of his works only during his lifetime amounted to 60 million copies. Nevertheless, about the private life of the “great European”, his character, hobbies, unfulfilled plans, about the reasons for his suicide in the distant Brazil of a wide circle of readers, including in Russia, are known very little. The author of the book Fedor Konstantinov, using all the available Russian and foreign sources, tried not only to build the collected facts into the chronological chain, but also to turn the portrait of Zweig into a multi -color gallery of his environment and era that has faded from time to time
