The book of the famous German prose writer H.Kh. Kirst stands out of almost six dozen works dedicated to Richard Sorge. Based on documentary materials, the author painted the image of a not-so-fiber communist, not a super-shpion and not a hero-martyr, as they had previously represented by Sorge, but a person endowed with weaknesses and disadvantages that are characteristic of ordinary people. He was by no means distinguished by an angelic character, often and tightly drank, passionately loved women, excessively rudely behaved with the members of his reconnaissance group.
