About the book
A book that will help to grow happy children in an atmosphere of love and harmony, based on the principles of self -suffering and awareness.

Susan Pollak, a psychologist with more than 30 years of experience and the mother of two children, from his own experience knows that it is not easy to raise children. In an effort to give the child the best parents often enter into an endless competition for the title of "ideal mother" or "ideal dad". They forget about themselves and, as a result, feel tired and burnt out, break into children, and then scold themselves for it.

This book will help you get out of such a trap and step by step to build a new relationship with yourself and your loved ones. Relations filled with love, care and attention not only to family, but also to oneself. Support yourself how you would support a friend in a difficult life situation. Console yourself as comforting your crying baby. Tell yourself those words of sympathy that would tell a loved one. Hug yourself stronger.

Susan Pollak talks about simple effective exercises that will help to develop these qualities. Performing one exercise will take no more than three minutes a day (this is like brushing your teeth) It is important not duration, but regularity (remember: how is the brushing of your teeth?) In addition, for the practice of awareness, it is not necessary to sit motionless. You can train awareness when you walk, wait in line, drive a car, lie in bed, even when you change the diaper. To do this, you do not have to be alone and silence in a meditation room or at the top of the mountain. This is what should become part of your crazy life when you, as a parent, are trying to catch everything in 24 hours. When you need it the most.

Parents to master the principle of self -suffering will be even easier than others, because their whole life is the woven overcoming and empathy. They just need to expand the vector of their sympathy by 180, direct it towards themselves and with surprise to discover how their life and family relationships improved.

From the author
It is difficult for everyone to be a parent. Whatever we do, this is not good enough. The day never develops as we planned. And then we blame ourselves, criticize the children, crush them and try to control even more. As a Harvard graduate, psychologist, mother of two adult children and a specialist with 30-year clinical experience, I worked with many parents and children. And I read many books about how to raise children. Often everything comes down to how to fix children, how to make them obey, how to achieve a full sleep, how to help them enter a good college and ensure success. In other words, how to make them as we want to see them. Very rarely for anyone it comes out.

In this book, my many years of experience of parenthood, clinical work and meditation are collected in this book. The theoretical and scientific foundation of the book is the revolutionary work of my colleagues, Dr. Chris Germer and Kristina Neff, authors of the transforming course in conscious self -sufficiency (MSC), which I have been led by its appearance in 2010. In addition to the MSC course, which tens of thousands of people have already listened to, in this guide for parents you will find stories and examples of my clinical practice with parents and children and my own parental experience. All stories are supplemented by exercises and thoughts based on my understanding of effective methods, and on the experience of many people to whom these exercises have brought real benefits.

Awareness and self -suffering are available to each of us: for this you do not have to be a vegan, do not eat sugar and not drink coffee. You can be inflated, tired of half death, scattered and irritated. You can be what you like. You can be yourself. If you are breathing (and you, of course, are doing this right now), you can do it.
