The book “Categories of medieval culture”, first published in 1972, gained recognition in world science. It unfolds in a general form and, at the same time, on the basis of an analysis of various types of historical sources, the picture of the world of medieval person. The focus is the image of “other”, i.e. A person who, in his own way, is not like in modern times, realized and experienced social and natural reality and, in accordance with this understanding, built his behavior. Thus, the monographs develop the principles of historical anthropology - the direction of historical thought that puts at the head of a person’s study in all its manifestations. While in the “Categories” there is a general model of medieval culture, in the book “Medieval World: the Culture of the Silent Most” the main emphasis is on the study of that layer that was called “folk culture” in modern historiography
