Rustam Hamdamov-author-MIF, author-mystery. His cinema is a phantom, everything is too fragile in him to say the “film”. Films are produced, films are released, films are stored in the archives. Cinema Khamdamova lives a different life. It is in the bizarre movement of the line: the plot in itself - who saw how Rustam Hamdamov draws in mascara, will understand. The author’s hand only keeps up with the fact that it should be born, erupt, dissolve.
The legend of Khamdamov - the USSR inaccessible to the world - was born, when a short film “My Heart” was hidden for the stylistic delights, and then “unexpected joys” were closed and washed off. It would seem the horrors of the totalitarian system. But the alliance collapsed, and the Hamdamova myth suddenly strengthened Free France - in the production safe, the Anna Karamazoff did not have any inaccessible and inaccessible to the audience. A similar fate almost suffered the next film - “Vocal Parallels”. But, praise by the Higher Forces, we still have this and several other films performed by a graceful irony, enchanting style inherent in one Khamdamov.
This book is not his portrait and not the unraveling of the mysterious pattern that he weaves in collaboration with his own fate, but only an attempt to capture the trace of Khamdamov’s presence in the world. To tell about him and his work, some of which still remains not that invisible, but as if surrounded by a magic fog. The collection includes articles of different years: some of them were written for the magazine Session, others were ordered specifically for this publication.
