The monograph is devoted to one of the most contradictory phenomena of the social and cultural life of the USSR throughout its history (1917-1985) - the ideas of Russian patriotism. Based on a wide range of sources, roots are revealed and further genesis of the new patriotic ideology is traced, the forms of its manifestation, the features of the attitude of the Soviet authorities to the "Russian factor" in the political and cultural life of that time are studied. A separate head of the book is dedicated to an alternative official exchange rate for the solutions of the "Russian question", proposed by Russian national patriots (dissidents).
