Nikolai Ivanovich Kostomarov (1817–1885) is an outstanding Russian historian, writer, ethnographer, “chronicler of the Russian land”, author of the famous “Russian history in the biographies of its most important figures”, represented in bright and living stories and images of the past. “Everything that was dramatic in our history ... is told by Kostomarov, and is told with the direct skill of the narrator who is deeply pleasure from his story,” wrote Vasily Klyuchevsky, admiring the strength and identity of the baking figures of the past recreated by Kostomarov.
