In the book of SI. Piskunova, the famous Russian Spanist and comparative, presented the result of many years of research dedicated to the novel by M. de Cervantes Don Quixote. This work is considered in different historical and literary contexts and methodological angles: as the first Western European novel of the New Age, as a “self-conscious” (meta-fictional) novel as a prototype of the dialogical “novel of consciousness”, the main “heroes” of which, the famous “Donkykhotsky couple - Don Quixote and Sancho Pans, do not do anything more important than what they talk to each other (A. Machado) Therefore, the researcher’s special attention is not focused on the myth of Don Quixote - the knight of the sad image, which has developed in the era of romanticism, but on the “conversations” and “speeches” of the characters of the Cervantes narrative, including on the dialogue of the author of the novel with his reader and with his literary predecessors - The creators of the Hellenistic novels and medieval-residence “books on chivalry”, pastorals and satiric-fantastic dialogs, collections of short stories and epistol, as well as with the creator of the first Spanish “Picares”-the novel “Life of Lasarillo with Torxus”-Diego Urtado de Mendos. An exceptional place in the book is an analysis of the polyphonic laughter of Cervantes, as well as archetypal plots and symbols of Don Quixote. The application presents original materials dedicated to the Russian novel of the XIX-XX centuries, which is considered in the light of the assimilation by the domestic literature of the experience of Cervantes-Romanist.
