Vikenty Veresaev is a wonderful Russian writer, translator, literary critic. He is known not only for his artistic prose, but also in literary works, and translations of Hellenic poets. One of his most famous books - “Pushkin in life” - has a subtitle “systematic set of genuine evidence”. V.V. Veresaev essentially discovered a new genre-biography-chronicle. Having resorted to the installation, he built a narrative of documentary materials: memories, letters, notes, statements of people who knew the poet - relatives, friends, secular acquaintances. As a result, Veresaev managed to create a text free from copyright comments and assessments, and from the genuine evidence of contemporaries there was a surprisingly bright and integral image of Pushkin. The first publication of this book (1926–1927) caused an acute polemic in the press: “Living” Pushkin, represented by Veresaev, did not fit into ideological standards. Nevertheless, the book turned out to be very in demand: it was repeatedly reprinted and still, almost a hundred years after its appearance, has not lost its relevance
