The book is dedicated to the life and scientific work of historian Ivan Pavlovich Kozlovsky (1869-1942) For a long time, his name was known only to specialists thanks to the book "The first mail and the first postmaster in the Moscow state" (1913), as well as articles on the ally of Peter I Vinius. However, the scientific work of I.P. Kozlovsky is much wider, which can be judged by the bibliography published in the edition of his bibliography. Kozlovsky played an important role in the evacuation of the University of Warsaw, whose professor was, to the south of Russia in 1915, he did a lot for the formation of the university in Rostov-on-Don, to organize archival affairs on the Don in the 1920s. The fate of the historian, whose worldview was formed long before the 1917 revolution, was dramatic. Recognized as politically unreliable, he was arrested in 1931, lost his job, was exiled to Michurinsk. He was able to return to full teaching work only at the Ural Pedagogical Institute in 1940
The second edition of the biography of I.P. Kozlovsky contains an introductory article by his granddaughter A.N. and L.N. Ilyins, some first -published manuscripts of a historian, numerous photos from the family archive
