The diary of the four war years spent by the author in France became one of the main Polish books of the 20th century. In it, Bobkovsky recorded the development of military events and in a catastrophic manner diagnosed the European crisis, discovering a fair insight.
Andrzej Bobkovsky (1913–1961) - writer, publicist. In March 1939, he left for Paris with his wife. He worked at the weapons factory near Paris and was evacuated to the south of France with it. In 1940 he returned to Paris and continued to work at the factory. During the German occupation, he took part in the resistance movement. After the war, he was one of the most important employees of the magazine “Culture”, the main printed body of the Polish emigration that contributed to changes in Poland. It was under the auspices of “Culture” that his military diary was published. In 1948, Bobkovsky left for Guatemala and opened a aircraft model there. Several books belong to him, including a rich epistolary.
The book is equipped with a preface by prof. Matsya Urbanovsky and the necrologist of Bobkovsky, written by Jozef Chapsky
