If we lived now under dictatorial mode, such a book would not have been impossible. But let"s not relax! Today, dictatorship as a form of government still exists in many countries. And there are countries that say that they are democratic, and at the same time demonstrate the qualities of totalitarian states: a high level of corruption, disrespect for human rights, and the laws adopted do not take into account the interests of citizens. However, people ask questions and try to analyze the surrounding reality, even when it is forbidden to think, even when everyone is sad and all intimidated. And this is the first step to freedom that comes when the dictatorship falls!
"Meet, dictatorship" is one of the four books in the series "Book of Tomorrow". The series tells about politics and sociology the youngest readers - primary school students. For the first time, the series was released in 1977-1978 in Barcelona. Recently, it was redistributed with new illustrations in Spain and received the highest Bologna Book Fair Prize for the best non -compaction project for children.
About the authors:
Artist Mikel Casal: Mikel publishes his drawings and cartoons in newspapers and magazines around the world, even in a distant pen. Of the four illustrators of "Books Tomorrow", he is the only one who found the dictatorship of Franco. He does not remember her well, because he was small, but he did not hide from him (there are children who always hold the ear of open) that the atmosphere in the country was tense. From adults, he has repeatedly heard that many people live in fear. Mickel has other passion in addition to drawing - surfing. Together with the son of Telmo, they often go to the beaches of Surriola, meet the dawn there, and then fight with the wind and the sea on their surfing boards. We do not know for sure whether the father and son are thinking about this, but life with dictatorship is something completely opposite to gliding along the waves.
The Planel group is a group of Spanish journalists, sociologists and politicians who gathered in the mid -70s specifically in order to make a series of topical books about politics for the youngest readers
