“People of the world” is a book not just about emigration, it is about Russian scientists and engineers who realized their talents abroad. The tragic events of the 20th century forced millions of our compatriots to leave their homeland. But the history of Russian scientific foreign countries goes beyond the traditional chronology of waves of Russian emigration, because part of the intellectual elite left the country as early as 1895-1915. The powerful stream of emigration was after the revolution, some of the scientists, as a glorified theoretic Physics George Gamov, managed to get out of the USSR during the years of the Stalinist terror, someone, as a cosmologist, Alexander Vilenkin, broke through the “iron curtain” during the years of stagnation .. . Many heroes of the book, for example, engineers Igor Sikorsky and Vladimir Zvorykin, received a well-deserved recognition in the West, but in their homeland the names of most of our outstanding compatriots-emigrants were devoted to unfair oblivion. This book is an attempt to return them to history
