Last fall, during a business trip to New York, I was invited to the New Year (according to the Jewish calendar) a holiday to the Millennium Theater Hall.
Opening the evening, which was attended by a lot of immigrants from the former USSR, the host said that the creator and chief director of the Chamber Jewish Musical Theater Yuri Sherling, that is, me, was in the hall.
... In the intermission, the audience surrounded me. They asked about my fate, about the family, complained that it was not possible to revive the theater. They talked about the invaluable role that his performances played in their duel with the Soviet authorities for a free, worthy life, for the right to choose a country of residence. And the young, who had never seen our performances and knew about them only from the elders, were interested in where you can read about the theater, its performances, artists ... Nowhere!
