Artist Alexander Nikolaevich Volkov-Muromtsev (St. Petersburg, 1844-Venice, 1928), who received the education of the agronomist and the professor’s department in Odessa, left his career as a scientist in his homeland and left for Italy, where he became famous as a magnificent watercolist, the author, primarily in Venetian landscapes.
In the wave of European success, he acquired in Venice on the Big Canal the palace, which received his name - Palazzo Volkoff, in which he lived for half a century. His aristocratic origin and talents allowed him to enter the Cosmolitical Venetian bomond, he was close to Wagner and Liszt, as the guide received members of the Romanov House. For many years he was connected by secret romantic relations with actress Eleanor Duz.
His memoirs saw the light after death, translated into English, while the original manuscript was lost and the reader is now proposed a return translation
