The first book of the autobiographical trilogy of the famous Soviet dissident, journalist and literary critic, chairman of the Glasnosti human rights fund, dedicated to his family, study at Moscow State University and the beginning of collecting, as a result of which the largest private collection of works of art arose in Russia. A noticeable role in the narrative is played by the artist L.F. Zhegin and art critic N. I. Khardzhiev, with whom the author associated many years of fruitful communication. S. I. Grigoryants also describes the beginning of his political activity and friendship with Viktor Nekrasov, Sergey Parajanov, Varlam Shalamov and Elena Bonner. In 1989, S. I. Grigoryants received the Golden Freedom Golden Award, which is awarded by the World Association of Newspaper Publishers (WAN-FRA) for an outstanding contribution to the Freedom of Press
