Prince Oleg, nicknamed the “prophetic”, ruled in Novgorod at the end of the 9th century as the successor of Rurik and the “uncle” (educator) of his son Igor. He captured Kyiv, uniting the two main centers of Ancient Russia, made a daring trip to Constantinople with his Varangian squad, fought in the Caucasus and the banks of the Caspian. In addition, almost nothing is known about the life and mysterious death of Oleg. The legends of his deeds were reflected in the first Russian annals, the novels of the temporary years, and later embodied in the "History" of N. M. Karamzin and the famous "song about the prophet Oleg" A. S. Pushkin.
