Ivan Dmitrievich Yakushkin (1793–1857) is one of the participants in the coup attempt in St. Petersburg in 1825. He refused to swear allegiance to Nicholas I, was arrested and sentenced to 25 years of hard labor and settlement. In conclusion, he showed incredible resistance and to the end remained faithful to his ideals. As part of the Guards Semenovsky Regiment, the future Decembrist participated in all major battles of 1812-1814. In the battle of Borodin, he was awarded the St. George Cross and Golden Weapons for courage, and for the difference during the foreign campaign of 1813-the Order of St. Anna of the 3rd degree and the Kulm Cross.
Notes I.D. Yakushkina is a valuable source on the history of the Decembrist uprising, they occupy one of the first places among the memoirs of participants in the Decembrist movement
