Reprint from the publication. Moscow, 1883. Vorontsov Alexander Romanovich (1741-1805) - count, diplomat and statesman, brother of the famous Russian enlightener Princess Ekaterina Dashkova. Was an ambassador to England and Holland. In 1773-1794 President of the Commerce College, in 1802-1804. State Chancellor. During his trip to Europe in 1758, he visited East Prussia, occupied by Russian troops. He stayed for three days in Memel, spent two weeks in Königsberg in March ("A very large city, quite densely populated, not badly built, and engaged in extensive trade in mast forest and hemp"), where he often visited the house of Count Stanislavsky. He went to Warsaw from Königsberg, then continued a journey through Austria and other European countries. He left memoirs in which he described stay abroad in 1758 - meetings in Europe, the analysis of the European "politician", rumors and gossip, the domestic details of the life of a diplomat in Europe of that time ...
