Reprint from the publication. SPb., 1872. Prince Yakov Petrovich Shakhovskaya (October 8, 1705 - July 23, 1777) During the regency of Biron and the short period of the reign of Anna Leopoldovna, Shakhovskaya for some time served as a senator and a police chief. When Elizaveta Petrovna entered the throne, many patrons of Yakov Petrovich were arrested and he had to leave his post. However, according to the assistance of Prince Nikita Trubetskoy Shakhovskaya, the post of chief prosecutor of the Holy Synod received the post of chief prosecutor. Shakhovskaya received a reputation as a rather demanding and fundamental official, which caused the dissatisfaction of the influential representatives of the clergy, who demanded that Elizabeth shift him from his position. Nevertheless, he spent the chief prosecutor of the Synod for 12 years (12/31/1741 - 03/29/1753), during which he was awarded the orders of St. Alexander Nevsky and St. Anna and was awarded the rank of secret adviser in 1753. On May 29, 1753, he was appointed head of Kriegskomy and managed state expenses during the seven -year war. On August 15, 1760, Shakhovskaya was appointed prosecutor general. On December 25, 1761, Emperor Peter III, upon joining the throne, shifted Shakhovsky from this post. The brief rule of Peter III ended with a palace coup, and Catherine II returned Shakhovsky to the public service, appointing him a senator. On the day of her coronation on September 22, 1762, the empress awarded him the Order of St. Andrew the First -Called. On April 1, 1766, Yakov Shakhovskaya left his post and settled in Moscow.
