Philip Filippovich Vigel became famous thanks to his memoirs, who, despite all the bias and sharpness of judgments, became a wonderful source for researchers and a unique monument of Russian life of the first half of the 19th century. In his "Notes" the most famous surnames are heard: Golitsyn, Pushkin, Krylov, Gogol, Chaadaev, Arakcheev, Razumovsky, Karamzin, Vyazemsky, Krylov, Demidov, Zagoskin. Perhaps the portraits of these and many other heroes of his memoirs will acquire new colors and shades in the eyes of readers, so in an unusual and exclusively subjective manner they are presented by the author. He wrote about the events of 1812, about Freemasonry and a lot - about the theater (French, German, Russian, serfs), about the opera, ballet and drama, about our and foreign actors
