The life of Princess Ekaterina Romanovna Dashkova is rich in events even by the standards of the rapid XVIII century. We learn about many of them from her "notes" - a wonderful monument of Russian literature and the most valuable historical document. Dashkova describes not only the facts of a personal biography, but also the most important events for the country in which she personally took part or which she witnessed. Gifted by the state mind and strong -willed character, Ekaterina Romanovna was an outstanding person. She did not know how to be silent and did not want to hide her antipathy, and therefore had more enemies than friends. She wrote "Notes", a short lonely century away from the capital. Looking back at her life, Dashkova concludes that “for my part, I did all the good in my strength”: “I fulfilled my duty as I was able to understand it. With an honest heart and pure intentions, I took out a lot of crushing blows, and if I had not supported me an impeccable conscience, I, of course, would have won under them. ”
