The monography album represents the creative heritage of an outstanding Russian scientist, artist and teacher Nikolai Nikolayevich Sobolev, covering the period from con. XIX according to ser. XX centuries.
N.N. Sobolev is known as one of the "fathers" science of decorative and applied and folk art in Russia. Creator and First Head of the Department of History of the Art and Graphic Faculty of MGPI (1941-46) and the Department of Art History of MGPPA named after S.G. Stroganova (1945-64) Organizer of the Museum of the fabrics of the Moscow Textile Institute, collector of funds of the Museum of Architecture named after Schuseva, who traveled a lot around the country, dealing with the problem of protecting the monuments of domestic culture. For the first time, a holistic creative portrait of N.N. Sobolev, whose sphere of scientific interests included the study of folk art, pedagogical work, scientific and social activity, art. He was able to fruitfully combine science and practice, artistic work and the ability to teach. The passion for knowledge and love of art was organically connected with the clarity and rationality of the pedagogical foundations, and organizational abilities in various fields were outstanding. He almost never did one thing, always combined the most diverse spheres of activity.
