Konstantin Alekseevich Korovin (1861–1939) is a brilliant master of landscape painting, a wonderful portraitist and theatrical decorator, who brought the aesthetics of impressionism into Russian fine art and the beginning of the 20th century and left an extensive fiction and literary heritage, which cannot be overestimated. Korovin’s life and work took place in an era rich in historical events, fate brought him with outstanding people of their time - artists, actors, theater figures, philanthropists, many of whom became his close friends. Among them are Vrubel, Serov, Polenov, Levitan, Savras, Chaliapin, Mammoths. All Korovin who knew with admiration noted his exceptional ability to attract the attention of the audience, with rare humor to represent dialogs in faces, give colorfulness to an ordinary life occasion, and all this was reflected in his writing creativity. Korovin completed his memoirs, begun in the early years of the revolution in forced emigration, in which he was from 1922 to the end of his days. There, longing for his homeland, he created more than four hundred wonderful races of tales, where with piercing truth and simplicity he captured Russia"s sweet to his heart and those whom he loved and remembered. This volume includes the memoirs “My Life”, the chosen stories of 1929-1939, as well as reproductions of the artist"s paintings
