“My life” is the memoirs of an outstanding Russian painter and theater artist Konstantin Korovin. In the 1880s, he became interested in the new artistic course in Russia, his “portrait of the choinist” went down in history as “the first swallow of Russian impressionism”. Korovin"s teacher was the master of the landscape Alexei Savrasov, who taught at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.

Interest in the advanced movements of painting did not contribute to good relations with conservative teachers of art schools, after Savrasov, Korovin could not join the world of academic painting and began to look for like -minded people. Thanks to his acquaintance with the philanthropist, Savva Mammontov Korovin tried himself as an artist of theatrical scenery, designed several performances and operas. Korovin was friends with outstanding artists of his time, such as Valentin Serov and Mikhail Vrubel, about the special talent and character of which he wrote in this book.

“My life” includes Korovin’s thoughts about the 1917 revolution, after which he left for France. In France, the impressionism replaced new currents in painting, Korovin"s work was irrelevant, so in recent years he had to earn a spelling of memoirs for emigrant newspapers. His friend Fedor Chaliapin said about the literary talent of the painter: “You know, Konstantin, I am surprised how you write it. The devil knows who you are? Where did this come from? ”
