Notes of the war participant with Napoleon of the Russian artillery officer I. T. Radozhitsky appeared a decade after the end of the military campaigns of 1812-1815. The main attention of the memoirist is the everyday life of an officer of the Russian Imperial Army during military campaigns, as well as a description of the battles at Ostrovno, Borodino, Tarutino, Maloyaroslavts, Vyazma, battles at Bishofsverda, Bautzen, Katsbakh, Leipzig, Reims, Paris. Unlike most memoirs of that time, the notes of Radozhitsky were compiled on the basis of diary entries, often with accurate dating. At the same time, Radozhitsky himself specifically emphasized in the introduction that only eyewitnesses can express all sorts of events significantly, and in the notes themselves he repeatedly mentioned the scripture of his marching diary. All this makes the notes of Radozhitsky a very valuable documentary source in the era of Napoleonic wars.
