General M.A. Foreigners (1872-1938) left the memoirs invaluable in content and saturation with the actual material, covering the most important historical events, the witness and participant of which he was. They cover the childhood years of the future general, the period of study in the gymnasium, participation in the First World War. But the revolutionary events in Petrograd, the state of military educational institutions at that time, the collapse of the army and the events of the Civil War in the east of Russia, whose participant had a chance to become a foreigners, are described in most detail. The unique memories of Foreignsev, of course, are one of the brightest historical sources that reveal the wide panorama of the military-political events of our history in a turning point. The book combines both the voluminous memoirs "end of the empire, the revolution and the beginning of the Bolshevism" about the events of 1917-1919, and the small in the volume of the memoirs that he was going to reduce into a single whole, but did not manage to do it
