Melnikov and Pechersky. Reality and myths

For most people, the name Melnikov-Pechersky is associated with the novels "in the forests" and "on the mountains", that is, with his activity as a writer. Yes, he was almost the first of the actually Nizhny Novgorod writer. The versatility of his interests is striking: a collector of legends, legends and legends, a lecturer and enlightener. For almost twenty years, P.I. Melnikov was in the public service as an official under the governor, and later in the Ministry of the Interior.

We did not set the goal of a detailed description of the life and activity of P. Melnikov. Work on the creation of the book was carried out by the editorial office and the author with parallel courses, and much attention was paid to the search for primary sources in the archives and a thorough verification of the facts cited.
